Superb solid silver spoon by the renowned goldsmith Buccellati.
The spatula and spoon are entirely covered with a ridged decoration reminiscent of shells or leaves. The reverse of the spatula is plain silver.
The spoon is hallmarked:
. MC hallmark with a balance press for the goldsmith Clementi dì Giovanni Manter & C, acquired by Buccellati in the 1980s.
. Italian hallmark: 925 in an oval.
. Goldsmith's hallmark: a star; number 1; letters BO for Bologna.
. In full: Gianmaria Buccellati.
. French control mark later with a swan.
This spoon is a true little sculpture with a very interesting play of textures, created by an iconic goldsmith.
