Christofle X Cardeilhac: Twelve Solid Silver And Stainless Steel Table Knives; Sceaux Model
A magnificent set of twelve table knives from the Sceaux collection by Christofle and Cardeilhac.
The handles are decorated with rocaille shells, acanthus leaves, and gadroons.
The blades are made of stainless steel.
Each piece is hallmarked:
. Minerve 1st hallmark from before 1973 for 950/°° silver
. OC silversmith’s hallmark featuring a bee and three stars for Christofle, since 1935.
. Cardeilhac silversmith’s hallmark featuring a crowned Legion of Honor above a crescent.
The Cardeilhac company was acquired by Christofle in 1951, which explains the presence of these two hallmarks on the same piece and allows these knives to be dated between 1951 and 1973
Very beautiful knives, featuring a classic and refined design from Cardeilhac & Christofle. Each piece is finely crafted, a hallmark of the well-established quality of these most famous French silverware houses.
