Canaux (?): Solid Silver Folding Travel Cutlery And Its Two-bladed Knife/penknife.
Artist: Canaux (?)
Superb and rare solid silver and mother-of-pearl travel cutlery set, including a fork, a spoon, and a double-bladed knife.
The cutlery has a superb handle with very luminous and shimmering mother-of-pearl plates.
The handles have an applied silver number: AB.
The knife has two parallel blades, one steel, the other silver.
The cutlery comes in a magnificent brown leather travel case. The cutlery fits perfectly, but the silver number on the case lid is different (CS for the case). The cup that was in the case is no longer there.
The fork and spoon are hallmarked:
. Minerva, 1st grade, before 1973 for 950/°° silver.
. L & Cie silversmith's hallmark with an anvil. This is the same hallmark as Paul Canaux's, but with an L instead of the P.C. I haven't been able to identify it. It could be a family member, a precursor, or a successor.
The knife is hallmarked:
. Minerva, 2nd grade for 800/°° silver
. Silversmith's hallmark to be identified: D
Magnificent travel cutlery set, very complete with its knife. The set is of excellent craftsmanship and extremely precious, with the magnificent mother-of-pearl handles.
17.5 cm open
9.9 cm closed
17.9 cm open and 9.8 cm closed for the knife
Very good condition, minor scratches from use. The closure system of the case is broken. A small, but not serious, lateral play on the spoon and fork, but the springs remain very firm.
Hand delivery in Paris or insured Colissimo shipping.

Europe: €20
Worldwide: €35
