Large Wax Case / Message In Solid Silver & Vermeil, Seal. Fleur-de-lis Design. Roy Seal
A magnificent royalist seal entirely decorated with fleurs-de-lis.
The seal has an oval, slightly truncated conical shape. Friezes of floral motifs adorn the base, the opening, and the top of the case.
A large oval handle engraved with a foliage motif allows the case to be opened easily.
The base of the case forms a seal bearing the initials FC (?).
But the main feature of this case, which makes it exceptional, is the scattered fleur-de-lis decoration covering the entire body of the object.
The interior is entirely made of vermeil.
It is hallmarked:
. Minerva 1st standard (pre-1973) for “950/°° silver”
. S&F silversmith’s hallmark with a star in a circle for Schweitzer & Fort, active from 1904 to 1910
This is a magnificent, large case featuring this rare and superb royalist design of fleurs-de-lis.
