The box is oval, entirely guillochéd with trellises, geometric friezes, and wavy lines.
A wide band of translucent blue enamel adorns the lid.
The inside of the lid is engraved: "Souvenir Fritz Lruik" (?)
The box is hallmarked:
. LK for the silversmith Louis Kuppenheim
. Crescent and crown for German sterling silver
. 900 for the silver content
The Louis Kuppenheim silversmith firm is renowned for the quality of its small enameled objects. Its work was featured at the 1900 Universal Exhibition, where it received a gold medal.
A very beautiful box, relatively large in size, with a magnificent, highly detailed decoration, enhanced by this lovely enamel band.
