It rests on a flat base. The lower half of the cup is faceted; the upper half is plain silver with a very flared rim.
It is engraved "Ecoffet," probably the name of its first owner.
The cup bears the following hallmarks:

Sixte-Simon Rion's silversmith's mark, active from 1824 to 1834
Large guarantee mark of the city of Paris for 1819-1838
A magnificent cup of very high quality, as always with this renowned silversmith. It is heavy, substantial, and particularly rare, especially interesting for its two-tiered decoration.
