A large and charming bust of a young woman by the sculptor Eugène Laurent. This work by Laurent depicts a young woman directly inspired by the painting "The Village Betrothal," painted by Greuze in 1761.

The sculpture captures the gentleness of the young woman's face, her gaze turned towards the ground, and demonstrates a masterful use of pleats, particularly on the headscarf.

The sculptural work is of exceptional quality, evident in the realistic details of the clothing and the understated charm emanating from this young woman.

The bronze bust, with its double patina, rests on a molded circular pedestal.

It is signed E. Laurent on the left side, and bears the Susse foundry mark "Susse Fes Edt" on the right, with the Susse stamp beside it.

The bust rests on a magnificent griotte marble base encircled by a gilt bronze laurel wreath.
