Large Cross In Bressans & Vermeil Enamels, 19th Century. Golden Leaf Frame.

Superb large Cross in Bressan enamels, dating from the 19th century.

The cross is made up of diamond-shaped elements. The stipes are made up of four elements and the patibulum of three. In total, there are six enamels on blue, green or red backgrounds decorated with golden spangles, white enamel and red and green beads.

Small side scrolls enhance the enamels of this cross.

It is framed in a later frame, gilded with leaf, glued on a red velvet background.
There is no bail, nor any trace indicating the lack of this bail, which indicates that this cross was never intended to be worn as a saltire.

The frame of the cross is in vermeil, hallmarked with a boar's head.

Superb cross in Bressan enamels, unique know-how typical of French regional craftsmanship. This model is a nice size with large enamels of different colors
