The spoons are in the Louis XV style with bowls decorated with curves and counter-curves, acanthus leaves, and shells. They are monogrammed MB (?).
The bowl is formed of two pierced half-shells that lock together with a nut screwing onto the handle, which is threaded at the top.
Both pieces are hallmarked:
Minerva 1st standard (pre-1973) for 950/1000 silver
Maker's mark: H & Cie with a rose branch and a star for Hénin et Compagnie, active from 1872 to 1974
A magnificent pair of spoons, very rare with this beautiful Louis XV decoration and French craftsmanship. This type of spoon with a locking mechanism is generally of English origin and with a very simple design.
