Beautiful and heavy hot water jug in solid silver.
The jug is made of plain silver, it rests on a flat base widening to form the belly. The spout is rectangular.
The lid is hollow and contains a free metal ball. I do not know what its use is. This is the second time I have come across such a system and I had not found any information on it. Perhaps it is related to the boiling temperature of the container? The handle is braided with wicker to prevent burns.
The jug is hallmarked:
. Goldsmith's hallmark: D.ROUSSEL in full with a domino for the goldsmith Eugène Doutre-Roussel, active from 1849
. Minerva 1st title before 1973 for silver 950/°
Very beautiful pourer for hot water, can also be used as a carafe on a beautiful table.
