Charming Pair Of Salt / Pepper Shakers In Anthropomorphic Sterling Silver. flag

Object description :

"Charming Pair Of Salt / Pepper Shakers In Anthropomorphic Sterling Silver. "
Charming salt/pepper shakers representing a solid silver soldier and a vermeil peasant woman, dating from the 19th century.

In reality it is a false pair because the two objects, although forming a charming couple, do not bear the same hallmarks.

The woman is punched:
. 800 for the title of money
. A hardly readable hallmark
. SB (?) under a closed crown, perhaps a goldsmith's mark.

The soldier is marked:
. “n” in a shield
. 13, probably for the title of 13 loth for 812/°°
This last hallmark indicates a probable Germanic or Polish origin.

The little woman fills herself or opens her headdress, the little soldier's feet dislocate.

Superb and charming “pair” of anthropomorphic salt and pepper shakers!

9.2 and 10 cm high

160.6 grams for the pair.

Good condition. The woman's silver-gilt is worn, a trace of posterior gilding in the soldier's hollows. Some oxidation.
