Fang Byeri Statue, Guardian Of A Reliquary, Gabon
Fang fetish, guardian of the eyema-byeri reliquary, from the Betsi subgroup, with its highly distinctive posture.
In good overall condition, with a superb black and brown patina—rich and lustrous—and fine carving quality; the haughty face features a very distinctive pout, a distant expression, and great dignity; the body is geometric in a longiform style, with stocky, muscular limbs.
Height: 54 cm with its black wooden base.
