Ade Royal Beaded Crown Headpiece For Ceremonies, Yoruba, Nigeria
Large crown, royal Yoruba headdress from Nigeria, a prestigious headdress covered with thousands of glass beads.
A face and figure represent the royal ancestors; the Yoruba king owns several of these, which he wears as needed. Height: 75 cm; the upper section alone measures 44 cm. There are no rows of hanging beads at the back so as not to interfere with the often imposing hairstyle.
In good overall condition; an antique headdress, likely from around 1930–1950, with beautiful, still-vibrant colors. A rare item!
