Large Mumuye protective fetish statue from Nigeria. These statues, which arrived on the Western market during the Biafran War in the 1960s, have a very characteristic cubist form and are highly prized by collectors (and others) for their modernity. They are not always beautiful, at least not according to our standards of beauty! But this one is very pleasing and well-balanced. It measures 106 cm and has a beautiful gray patina due to long exposure to the elements, with cracks and stains. Mounted on a base.
