Wurkum Dance Crest
A dance crest from the Wurkum people in Nigeria, representing a kind of figurative mask with eyes and mouth figured by the inclusion of cowries (shells symbolizing wealth). There are also two small circular mirrors around the nose, as well as animal horns and a charge of seeds on the "skull" of the face. This is a fetish dance crest. The object has a slightly crusty suage patina and a good age. It is authentic and has not been restored.
