"Zulu People Statuette, South Africa"

Statuette representing a standing female figure. She holds a pestle in both hands above a mortar placed on the ground. The appearance is proud and also suggests the back and forth movement of the pestle on the mortar. A sacrificial matrix covers part of the figure. A necklace of fine white pearls partly emerges from the matrix. The facial features as well as the hairstyle are fine. Beautiful presence for this statuette, both fetishized and which tells us about a regular act of these populations.
Wood with a patina of use, pearls, sacrificial agglomerate.
