A Breton jacket known as a Chupenn from the Quimper region and dating from the late 19th, early 20th centuries. Men's workwear with indigo-dyed woollen cloth bottom, reused from French military jackets from the 1870 war. Double-breasted jacket with sixteen chased brass buttons, collar and bib in black silk velvet embroidered in sunray pleating. Yellow silk embroidery typical of Breton art (alterations to embroidery). Partial lining in indigo-dyed cotton twill. Natural patina to be noted, including that of the velvet corresponding to the wear of a work garment. No major defects. Good structural condition. A fine piece of traditional Breton art.
Dimensions: Small man's size. Shoulders 40 cm, chest 95 cm, height 59 cm, sleeves 55 cm, waist 87 cm.
