Beautiful square metal buckle, made in France towards the end of the 19th century.
A versatile accessory, it could be used either as a belt buckle or as a hat ornament.
The decoration, placed on two opposite corners, depicts a bird with outstretched wings, finely “painted” with translucent cloisonné enamels.
