Sepia Ink Drawing Signed By Lionel Péraux

A sepia-ink drawing on paper depicting an outdoor genre scene: a young girl with a young adult woman - dressed in a long cloak and a hat- stand facing a child; both are holding small dogs on leashes. The linework is fine and precise, typical of late 19th-century narrative illustration.

The drawing is framed very simply, with a rustic wooden frame adorned with metal rosettes at the corners.

Unfortunately, the paper shows significant water stains which, however, do not compromise the legibility of the scene.

Lionel Peraux, born in Nantes in 1871, was a French painter and illustrator active between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.He was trained by two important masters of French art: Élie Delaunay, renowned for his teaching of academic drawing, and Gustave Moreau, a central figure at the École des Beaux-Arts and mentor to an entire generation of Belle Époque artists.

Although his career is not documented in the major art dictionaries, his works appear regularly in public auction catalogs, attesting to his consistent output and significant presence in the French art scene of the time.
