A festive headdress in printed cotton chintz from the Roya Valley in the Nice hinterland and dating from the last quarter of the 19th century. Cotton percale printed with large stylized flower patterns, probably from an Alsatian manufacturer for the Provençal market. Hand-assembled bonnet with small organ pleat gathers and cream cotton lining for the front pass. Burgundy taffeta piping and large crenellated silk ribbons to tie under the chin (some weakness to the ribbons). The yellow tightening ribbons at the back are later. Exceptionally fresh condition of the chintz having retained its glaze. Good condition.
Dimensions: Approximately 20 cm x 20 cm flat. Head circumference 40 cm.
