Suji Bachi Kabuto Kabuto - Nkbkhk Certificate
Sixty-two-panel suji bachi kabuto, 18th century..
with the appraisal of the prestigious Nihon Katchū Bugu Kenkyū Hozon Kai 国際日本甲冑武具振興協会 with the evaluation of "tokubetsu kichō chiryō" (artifact of high resarch value) serial number 1971, exhibited on May 22, 4th year of the Reiwa era (2022)
The bowl in the form of a goshōzan bachi is topped with a four-part gilded tehen kanamono and is decorated with a maedate in the form of a crescent moon and ushirodate in the form of flat horns. The fukigaeshi bears a stylized gilded family crest kamon in the form of the "wheel of teaching" rinpo, the mabizashi has stylized shiwa wrinkles, made in the uchidashi technique. The four-part neck protection shikoro is in the kiritsuke style, which nicely corresponds to the lines of the suji bachi bowl.
This is a beautiful and high-quality mid Edo period helmet in very good condition.
