18th-century Lombard Console Table With Inlaid Decoration And Spindle Legs

Detail of a console table from the Lombardy region, dating to the second half of the 18th century. The piece is distinguished by its elongated proportions and shallow depth, characteristics that make it ideal as a wall-mounted console or a piece of furniture for a hallway. This type of table was often used to display small cabinets, collectibles, or fine decorative objects. The structure is made of solid wood with a top surface in a single wood species, featuring a beautiful patina of use. The band beneath the top displays refined inlay decoration with stylized plant motifs, of a sober yet elegant style, typical of Lombard production of the period. The turned spindle legs, slender and well-proportioned, lend movement to the whole. Beneath the top is an iron bracing system with crossed elements; these appear to be the result of a later intervention, likely added to reinforce the structure over time. Overall, the table is authentic in its materials and construction, though it shows some adaptations and alterations due to use and preservation over time. There are normal signs of wear, minor irregularities, and slight adjustments, consistent with the period. A highly charming and practical piece, suitable for both classic and contemporary settings. Dimensions: width 146 cm, depth 40 cm, height 81 cm. For further information, photos, or technical details, please do not hesitate to contact us.
