Venetian Louis XVI Chest Of Drawers With Cherry Wood Veneer, Late 18th Century
A Venetian-made chest of drawers, dating from the late 18th to the early 19th century, crafted in the neoclassical Louis XVI style, with some references to 18th-century tradition.
The piece features a structure with simple, balanced lines, entirely veneered in cherry wood, characterized by beautiful warm tones and an elegant grain pattern.
The front is marked by three large drawers, embellished with herringbone veneer patterns, featuring thin fillets and perimeter bands in contrasting wood tones that emphasize the geometric design of the composition.
Particular care has also been taken in the craftsmanship of the top and sides, which are likewise veneered with symmetrical geometric patterns, reflecting the cabinetmaker’s attention to the selection and arrangement of the woods.
The dresser rests on four elegant, slightly arched legs, which lend a sense of lightness to the structure and preserve a pleasing nod to 18th-century forms.
The piece is completed by circular handles and metal lock plates, in harmony with the understated character of the whole.
A piece of fine craftsmanship, with balanced proportions and a pleasant antique charm, capable of fitting into both a classical setting and a contemporary interior.
Origin: Veneto, Italy.
Period: Late 18th – early 19th century.
Dimensions: Width 120 cm, depth 54 cm, height 83 cm.
