Inlaid Wood And Bone Cabinet (stipetto) – Southern Italy, 17th–18th Century

Small cabinet (stipetto) in ebonised poplar wood, decorated with bone inlays featuring stylised phytomorphic motifs. The front is arranged with lateral drawers and a central section with three drawers, consisting of a larger drawer flanked by two smaller ones, above and below. The structure, as well as the interiors and drawers, is entirely made of poplar wood.Dimensions: 44.5 cm wide, 23.5 cm deep and 28 cm high. The cabinet is in good overall condition, showing signs of age consistent with its period and long use. Some modifications to the internal sliding elements of the drawers are present, likely carried out to improve functionality; a small loss of bone inlay near the upper section and the area of the upper central drawer, reintegrated with colour-matched filler; the replacement of one drawer base, probably due to wear, along with other minor interventions compatible with an antique object of long-standing use.Based on its construction, materials and decorative taste, the cabinet can be attributed to Southern Italy, and is datable to between the 17th and 18th centuries.A charming piece, suitable for a collection, a study, or as a refined decorative element.Dimensions:44.5 × 23.5 × 28 cm (W × D × H)For further information, photographs or technical details, please do not hesitate to contact us.
