Armenian copper candlestick with a square base – Ottoman Empire, 19th century.

Description: Turned and molded copper candlestick resting on a square base with gadrooned decoration.

The baluster-shaped stem bears an inscription engraved in Armenian on the central body, probably a donor's mark or a short votive formula.

A characteristic product of Armenian workshops in Anatolia during the Ottoman period, intended for religious (church or oratory) or Christian domestic use.

The candle holder is carved directly from the metal.

Condition:

Beautiful old patina with verdigris oxidation and signs of use consistent with age. No apparent restoration.
Wear and minor dents are visible, but there is no structural weakness.

This object is interesting for its architectural form and the presence of the Armenian inscription, which testifies to the Christian community context under Ottoman rule.
