Tabriz Rug, 202 X 320 Cm, Ardebil Pattern, Hand-knotted Kork Wool, Circa 1980, In Perfect Condition
Tabriz rug, a magnificent hand-knotted wool piece measuring 202 cm wide by 320 cm long.
Knotted around 1980 and in perfect condition.
This sumptuous model features a design inspired by the world-renowned "Ardebil rug."
It boasts numerous shades of gray, cream, blue, green, red, and curry, complemented by black, both on the field and the border. This piece replicates the same graphic design as the marvelous rug that inspired it :
a large central medallion, four spandrels (corners), and the same type of border with cartouches and rosettes, as well as numerous arabesques unfolding on a particularly intricately worked field.
The wool is very soft and fine, the colors are vibrant, and the pile is in perfect condition.
The fringes are clean and in good condition, as are the selvedges.
The overall effect is magnificent and luminous; a rug of very high quality.
The main border is adorned with cartouches alternating with small rosettes.
This type of design is found throughout the rug.
of motif in this type of carpet which is inspired by illuminated manuscripts.
# - The border is composed of delicate bands of clouds on a dark background, a motif of Chinese inspiration.
# - The central medallion consists of a superb sixteen-pointed rosette, surrounded by sixteen almond-shaped pendants. The color of these motifs accentuates the contrast with the cream background, scattered with numerous flowers and palmettes.
# - The four spandrels are adorned with as many fragments of medallions identical to the rosette. This suggests an infinite repetition of this motif and gives an indeterminate character to the whole.
# - The two pendants of the central medallion are arranged, as always, along the vertical axis of the carpet, and transformed into very realistic mosque lamps. Note the presence of these elements, and the absence of any other living motifs besides flowers.
# - This, in a few lines, is the explanation for the creation of this work of art.
# - The famous "Ardebil" carpet This rug was knotted in Kashan, Iran, Persia.
It has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
