Pair Of Cast Iron Vase Stands/pedestals, Empire Style
Pair of Empire-style cast iron vase stands, 20th-century work.
Each base is a solid, hollowed-out piece with vertical and concave sides, designed to be placed in a corner. The upper part of the base is accentuated by a molding, and each side is decorated with relief. A seated woman in classical dress beside a fire pot is depicted in the center of the concave shape, while the vertical sides feature, on one side, winged chimeras with fish tails drinking from a basin supported by scrolling foliage, and on the other, griffins flanking a basin and perched on branches with scrolling foliage. These motifs are reminiscent of those found on gilt bronzes typical of the Empire style. Good condition. Some wear is present.
- Dimensions - Height: 13.4 cm, Width: 60 cm, Depth: 30.5 cm
