Solid Silver Marrow Spoon - France - émile Puiforcat, Renaissance Style, 19th Century
Artist: émile Puiforcat
19th-century solid silver marrow spoon.
Minerva hallmark, 1st standard (950/1000).
Maker’s mark attributed to Émile Puiforcat.
Elongated characteristic form comprising a narrow trough (gutter) and a spatula. Chased and engraved decoration on the reverse of the wider part and at the base of the handle, drawing on the Neo-Renaissance ornamental repertoire: geometric interlace, cut-leather strapwork motifs, and falling acanthus leaves. Central cartouche engraved with a monogram of interlaced initials (probably S, C, P), surmounted by a seven-point noble crown.
Overall condition marked by light surface scratches from use and two slight spots located in the concave part of the trough.
