SPOON with characteristic Renaissance decorations: finished with a female half-figure seen from the front, wearing a headband. The handle has an applied memento mori and is engraved with the initials "PYL" in capital letters. The collar forms a claw. Two hallmarks on the ovoid spoon belonging to Matthias Pichell of Danzig/Gdansk. This silversmith was active from 1639 to 1674. France, 17th century. Silver-gilt; H.: 18.3; W.: 5.1 cm
