National Guard Flag Eagle, July 1852 model, Second Empire. 33694(6968) Finely chased gilt bronze eagle with outstretched wings, its right talon resting on the radiant thunderbolt of Jupiter. Height 17.4 cm, width 19 cm, depth 4.9 cm. This eagle rests on a rectangular base bearing Napoleon's monogram "N" on the front (height of the "N" 2.4 cm x 1.9 cm). The upper part of this base is complemented by a wider apron, and the lower part by a small projecting molding. The base is stamped "MA MARION / A. BARRE". Total height 4.8 cm, height of the upper apron 1.3 cm, height of the lower molding 0.15 cm, width of the box at its center 9.6 cm, width of the upper apron 11.15 cm, width of the projecting lower molding 9.85 cm, depth of the box 4.3 cm, depth of the upper apron 5.65 cm, depth of the lower molding 4.7 cm. Round socket with a projecting molding at the bottom and, welded to the front and back, a hook for attaching the tie. Height 9.5 cm, diameter 3 cm, height of the lower projecting molding 3 mm, height of the hooks 4.2 cm. Weight 1.440 kg. France. Second Empire, 1852-1870. Very good condition, a few small dents on one edge of the box, some very minor oxidation spots on the eagle, superb gilding, matte in the background, polished with agate stone on the raised areas. This gilding has simply been cleaned and is entirely original.
