TALPACK OF AN OFFICER OF THE HORSE-HUNTER OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, Second Empire. 32632Leather talpack covered with black fur, H at the front 18.5 cm, H at the back 21 cm. Black patent leather cap, diameter 17.5 cm. On each side of the talpack, a gilt brass rosette, with a horizontally striated base, oval in shape (H 3 cm, width 2.2 cm) holding a hook intended to support the chinstrap. On the right side, three-quarters back in the upper part, a smooth gilt brass rosette of round shape, diameter 1.6 cm) is fixed 3 cm from the top, intended to receive the end of the chinstrap. At the front, in the upper part is an opening opening onto a gusset intended to receive the pompom and the plume, width of the opening 3 cm. Inner cap in brown waxed sheepskin cut into 12 wolf teeth. Frame lined with gold silk canvas. Cap lined with black morocco with gold-plated label bearing the inscription "ÉQUIPEMENT MILITAIRE Rue Fontaine Matier (?) CHENOUARD À PARIS". Cap decorated with a removable scarlet cloth pennant, with a round base, decorated with a rush, diameter 15 cm. Pennant decorated with 3 silver braids, length of the pennant 42 cm, the braid below forms a loop intended to be attached to a lace fixed to the frame above the left rosette. Pennant finished with a silver cannetilles pompom with soft fringes, H of the tassel of the pompom 1.4 cm, H of the fringes 4.5 cm. Oval-shaped pompom, in wood, mounted with a metal rod; the back is straight, covered with ivory silk; the front is curved (thickness 2 cm) entirely covered with a silver cord. Pompom height 5.6 cm, width 3.9 cm. Plume in curly rooster feathers, white (H 20 cm), mounted on a whale (H 22.5) cm with gilded brass tulip at its base (H 4 cm). France. Second Empire.
