First Empire HAT OF A HUSSAR OR HORSE CHASSEUR OFFICER. 31127. Made of dark taupe felt, with a fairly tall shape typical of the First Empire. Height at the front of the felt section: 21 cm; height at the front from the bottom of the peaks: 28 cm; height of the back felt section: 29 cm; height of the back section from the bottom of the peaks: 35 cm. Width: 40 cm. Each peak is adorned with a silver tassel with soft fringe. Tricolor cockade woven in wool braid, 8.5 cm in diameter. Loop composed of a thick silver twist wrapped around a small uniform button, 1.5 cm in diameter, with a silver half-bell. At its center, the band is composed of a silver thread cord. The interior lining consists of a black waxed calfskin band, 6 cm high, and a fine ochre linen lining. France. First Empire. Good condition, some moth holes, slight losses at the tips of the horns, two repairs on the rear horn: one vertical, 23 cm high, and the other horizontal, 16 cm long.
