King's Bodyguard Sabre, Model 1816, Restoration. 32233 Gilt brass hilt with four branches forming a shell decorated with the arms of France beneath a royal crown and against a background of a bundle of flags and branches of oak and laurel. Long-tailed pommel. Wooden grip covered in gray shagreen with silver filigree. The guard is stamped with the "C" under a star of Chateaubrun and the "B" under a star of the inspector P. Bick, 1813-1818. Natural buffalo hide sword knot. The fulled blade is engraved with a bundle of arms, two fleurs-de-lis, and the inscription "King's Bodyguard" on one side, and, on the other side, with a trophy of arms, the arms of France, and the radiant sun with its face. The back is engraved "Klingenthal Royal Manufactory, August 1814." It bears the hallmarks of Borson (August 1814 - September 1816) of the Klingenthal Manufactory and of Bick, 1st class controller (1812 - 1815). Blade length 92.9 cm. Steel scabbard with two steel suspension rings and a brass scabbard mouth inlaid with foliage. France. Restoration period. Good condition, scabbard mouth is degilded and the side screw was replaced at the time with a brass rivet.
