PAIR OF FLINTLOCK PISTOLS SIGNED POITEVIN IN ANGOULÊME, Old Monarchy, circa 1745. 30095Octagonal then round barrels, very slightly blundered at the muzzle, length 22.5 cm, with the breech tang 27.5 cm, caliber 15 mm., engraved and gilded on the octagonal part with flowers on a blued background. Flat-bodied lock plates, engraved on a matte gold background with foliage, they are signed "Poitevin a Angouleme". Hammers similarly decorated on the lock plates. Pan-sided bassinets. All trim in cut steel, decorated with flowers and foliage on a matte gold background. Pommels with long ears. Oval caps with grimacing mask. Silver thumb pieces representing an unengraved coat of arms under a count's crown. Walnut mounts carved with foliage scrolls and corollas. Whalebone ramrods with steel trim. Total length of each pistol 38 cm. France. Old Monarchy, circa 1745. Good condition, some accidents and worm holes in the wood, traces of disassembly.
