This charming painting was created by Marcel Azema, also known as Azema-Billa. It is signed in the lower right corner of the canvas, and there is a label from the artist's studio on the back. Marcel Azema, known as Azema-Billa, was born in Paris on August 15, 1904. He was a student of his uncle, Ernest Azema (winner of the Prix de Rome for painting), from whom he learned drawing and painting. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and exhibited in many salons. He was awarded the Othon Friesz Prize, and in 1953, he was president of the Salon des Artistes Occitans in Toulouse, a city where he lived for a time.
