Paul Goetz, Château Du Bouchet, Known As “the Giant,” Painter From The Indre And La Brenne Regions.

Artist: Paul Goetz
A beautiful oil-on-canvas painting depicting the Château du Bouchet, nicknamed “the Giant,” in the Brenne Regional Nature Park, located in the Indre department (36).  The first identified owner was Lord Guy Sénébaud in the 12th century; he was a comrade-in-arms of Philip Augustus. This château was also owned by Gabriel de Rochechouart, Duke of Mortemart, father of Françoise-Athénaïs, Marquise de Montespan, the famous mistress of King Louis XIV.
Beautifully painted in a somewhat ethereal style, the silhouette of this imposing castle is outlined against a backdrop of trees. The bare trees appear to have been battered by the winds, lending this work a fairy-tale atmosphere.
This painting was created by the artist Paul Goetz and bears his signature in the lower right corner.
This beautiful oil on canvas is sold framed.
This artist, well-known in the Indre department (36), created numerous landscapes of the Brenne region in a Post-Impressionist style.
He set up his studio in Vendoeuvres (36) with his wife Solange in the 1950s.
Some of his paintings are on display in museums such as the Musée de L’Hospice Saint-Roch in Issoudun.
