Pair Of Renaissance-style Chairs—louis XIII Style With Flat, Short Backrests
Pair of Louis XIII-style back chairs in solid oak.
Our chairs rest on four baluster legs connected by an H-shaped brace with a square cross-section and a crossbar at the front, below the seat.
The backs are wide and short and upholstered in fabric.
Known as a “chaise à dos” or “chaise à vergadin,” this chair has no armrests to allow ladies to sit comfortably despite their voluminous and stiff vergadin skirts.
Recently restored, our two chairs therefore feature a seat that is in very good condition and comfortable; the upholstery fabric is ribbed velvet with a beautiful fringed trim.
Dimensions:
backrest height: 97 cm
seat height: 47 cm
seat depth: 42 cm
total depth: 47 cm
width: 58 cm
