Pair of large Renaissance-style armchairs in richly carved walnut. Each armchair rests on two turned baluster-shaped rear legs and two front legs ending in wide, carved glides. The whole is connected by an H-shaped baluster stretcher. A bar on the front, connecting the two legs, features magnificent openwork and scalloped carving. The armrests and armrest supports are finely crafted with acanthus leaves and flowering stems. The back is high and flat. The seat is antique and in good condition; it is slightly sagging and stretched but does not require urgent restoration. The upholstery is striped velvet and is in fair condition.
