Pair Of Empire Mahogany Armchairs Decorated With Palm-shaped Capitals And Palmettes, Jacob Legs.
A very fine pair of Empire period mahogany and mahogany veneer armchairs. These armchairs rest on a base characteristic of the 1810s, with baluster-shaped front legs and saber-shaped rear legs. The armrests are supported by palm-shaped capitals. The back of the armrests, where they meet the backrest, is carved with palmette motifs. The upholstery is in good condition; the seat is firm and comfortable, and the fabric is old gold velvet, slightly faded on the front of the seat. A very fine example of excellent craftsmanship from the late Empire period. Dimensions: height to backrest 92 cm, height to seat 41 cm, width 61 cm, depth 54 cm.
