Pair Of Carved Wooden Ceremonial Armchairs – Twisted Columns And Lion Heads
Pair of carved wooden ceremonial armchairs – Twisted columns and lion heads – Renaissance style
Spectacular pair of large ceremonial armchairs in richly carved wood, in the Renaissance style, featuring particularly decorative design elements.
The high backs are framed by twisted column-style sides and topped with large openwork pediments carved with broad volutes, foliage, shells, and ornamental motifs.
The fabric-upholstered armrests are topped with remarkable carved lion heads, lending the piece a great deal of character.
The bases, which are also intricately crafted, feature turned and carved legs joined by twisted crossbars, harmoniously echoing the decoration of the backrest posts.
The seats and backs are upholstered in a blue fabric with a tone-on-tone floral pattern, offering an elegant contrast to the wooden frame.
The armchairs currently feature an aged white painted patina, intentionally worn in places to reveal the wood and the relief of the carvings.
With their generous dimensions, tall backs, and abundant carved detailing, these armchairs have a strong decorative presence and will be perfectly suited for a large entryway, a library, a living room, or a home with character.
