Openwork Porcelain Bowl With Floral Decoration And Cherubs – Rococo Style
Openwork porcelain bowl with floral decoration and cherubs – Rococo style. Superb decorative porcelain bowl, finely openwork, richly decorated with raised floral motifs and two cherubs (putti) on either side, each holding a flower. A work of great finesse, in the spirit of late 19th-century European Rococo-inspired pieces. Description: The bowl features an openwork trellis structure around its entire inner rim, revealing delicate cutwork. It rests on a shaped foot with molded decoration enhanced by gilding. The decoration comprises: Hand-painted polychrome floral bouquets (violets, forget-me-nots, and other stylized flowers) in the central reserves; applied relief flowers (carnations and buds) in shades of powder pink, cream, and soft green; sculpted leafy stems in the round running along the base and sides; and gilded highlights emphasizing the moldings and scrolls. Two finely sculpted porcelain putti flank the bowl on either side. They are delicately rendered (rosy faces, gentle expressions) and each holds a small flower.
