"tulipe" Secretary Desk With A Richly Inlaid Drop-down Top

Spectacular "Tulip" drop-leaf secretary desk with richly inlaid woodwork, remarkable both for its proportions and for the abundance and delicacy of its decoration.

The front features a beautiful interplay of burl wood and marquetry, combining foliage, arabesques, floral motifs, and contrasting fillets.

The large drop-down panel is centered by a large, symmetrical ornamental composition that is particularly decorative.

Once opened, it reveals a spectacular interior forming a cabinet, composed of numerous drawers of various sizes, arranged symmetrically around a small central compartment with two doors.

Two small columns frame this central section, while a checkerboard pattern adds visual interest to the composition.

When the flap is extended, it forms a large writing surface made of light wood and accented by an elegant inlaid border.

The upper section also features closed compartments and is topped by a curved pediment, richly decorated with inlaid foliage motifs and surmounted by a small central compartment.

The lower section, with its curved lines, features several storage compartments and ends with a wide, scalloped base, which is also entirely accented with marquetry.

A piece with a striking presence, reflecting masterful cabinetmaking and, when opened, revealing a particularly attractive interior.
