18th-century Walnut And Piacenza Walnut Burl Tray

A walnut and walnut burl drop-front chest, featuring scalloped frames inlaid with various woods, from Piacenza and dating from the 18th century. The scalloped front features two drawers, surmounted by a drop-down door that conceals a chest with six drawers and a secret compartment under the top with additional compartments. The rounded side panels are decorated with leaf-motif carvings that extend to the aprons and the scalloped legs, which end in curls. The interior is made of poplar, offering an elegant contrast to the richly carved exterior.
