Small Piedmontese Trumeau In Walnut - 18th Century

Trumeau of Piedmontese origin, made of walnut wood in the 18th century, characterized by unusually small dimensions compared to traditional pieces of this type.

Precisely because of its compact proportions and the presence of an original pull-out lower step, which serves as a step to facilitate access to the upper section, it can be surmised that the piece was made for a child’s bedroom.

The trumeau features an upper section with a contoured door and ornate frame, while the lower section consists of a drop-down panel that opens to form a practical writing surface, complete with interior compartments, and three stacked drawers.

Of particular interest is the pull-out step integrated into the base, a functional and rather unusual solution that gives the piece a distinctive character.

The trumeau retains a beautiful antique patina and is in excellent overall structural condition, consistent with its age, with natural signs of aging and use. It requires conservative restoration to preserve its original features.

A rare and highly charming piece of furniture, particularly interesting for its size, its presumed unique intended use, and the originality of its construction.
