Genovese Louis XV Slatted Side Table – 18th Century
An elegant Genoese drop-front chest from the Louis XV period, crafted during the 18th century and characterized by the harmonious, flowing lines typical of 18th-century Ligurian craftsmanship.
The piece is finely veneered and embellished with a rich decorative scheme featuring fillets and inlays that frame the surfaces and highlight the wood’s spectacular grain.
The veneered sides and slender silhouette lend the piece great elegance and proportional balance.
The interior retains the characteristic compartmentalized design with small drawers and document compartments, making the chest particularly functional as well as decorative.
The piece is in good overall condition considering its age, with natural signs of aging, minor wear, and slight lifting of the veneer. It requires conservative restoration. It should also be noted that the back panel was replaced at a later date and is not original.
A piece of remarkable craftsmanship, ideal for collectors and for elegantly furnishing historic homes and prestigious settings.
