Beautiful set of four lithographs representing cavalry officers on their mounts and at the head of their regiments. On the back of each lithograph, an annotation indicating the regiment: are presented as follows: - Officer of the Guides (Belgium) - Officer of the 16th Lancers (England) - Officer of the Royal Scots-Greys, 2nd Dragoons - Officer of the 14th Regiment of hussars (England) Our engravings are signed by Louis Vallet, they are part of a work devoted to the European armies, they are dated 1892. They are presented with Marie-Louise. Note a slight yellowing due to time and some xylophage bites which were covered on the back of the lithographs by small patches of paper dating from the same period to attenuate the difference. ( see photos). Louis Vallet was born in Paris on February 26, 1856 and died in the same city in 1940. French painter and illustrator, he was in 1904 one of the nine co-founders of the society of cartoonists. He illustrated many books and made many sketches of cavalry across Europe and then released texts and engravings in 1892-1893. He collaborated with many illustrated newspapers: - Le charivari - La vie Parisienne - L'Illustration - Frou Frou - Femina - Le Rire etc.... He also participated in numerous collective exhibitions.
