Ravinet d'Enfert, Empire-style Covered Bowl, Silver-plated Metal Centerpiece Tureen
Artist: Raviner D'enfert
An important and very elegant Empire-style silver-plated covered cup from the Ravinet d'Enfert workshops. It rests on a pedestal decorated with a gadrooned frieze at the top and a waterleaf frieze at the bottom. This same waterleaf decoration also adorns the rim of the lid, as well as the finial and its crown. The two handles are in the antique style and embellished at their summits with stylized quatrefoil motifs. The base of our cup bears two silversmith's hallmarks of the renowned Ravinet d'Enfert firm, founded in 1891 by Louis Ravinet (1854-1925) and Charles d'Enfert (1865-1960). The first piece features the initials RD surrounding a clover, and the second bears the two names Ravinet d'Enfert surmounted by a clover. This company was located at 83 rue du Temple in Paris. It received numerous awards. This magnificent piece can be used as a bowl (with or without a lid), tureen, centerpiece, etc. Note the very minor scratches from use, which do not detract from its appearance. Dimensions: height 27 cm, width 30.5 cm. Shipping and handling costs: €30 within mainland France; please contact us for other destinations.
