Large Limoges Porcelain Lamp Base, Hand-painted Figure Decoration, 19th Century.
Artist: Limoges
A very important Limoges porcelain lamp base resting on a circular brass plinth adorned with a beaded band. The front is beautifully decorated with a hand-painted portrait of a young woman holding a rose in her left hand. On the back, a stylized motif in fine gold completes the decoration. The two sockets feature a garland of flowers in relief, highlighted in fine gold. The lamp is in good working order and is fitted with a bayonet bulb. This porcelain dates from the first half of the 19th century, specifically the Louis-Philippe period. The gilding shows signs of wear entirely normal for its age and use. PLEASE NOTE: This lamp is sold without a lampshade.
