Joseph Le Guluche (1849–1915). Terracotta Statue, Sculpture Titled *young Woman With A Mandolin*.

A charming statue depicting a barefoot young woman holding a mandolin in her hands. This charming sculpture was crafted from terracotta with a waxed patina and bears Joseph Le Guluche’s signature, engraved on the back of the terrace. A beautiful piece typical of and emblematic of the burgeoning phenomenon of mass-produced sculpture in the late 19th century. Joseph Le Guluche was born on September 20, 1849, in Plourivo in the Côtes-d’Armor department of Brittany and died on January 24, 1915, in Villejuif in the Paris region. He primarily produced popular subjects in terracotta. He was employed between 1879 and 1911 at the L’Isle-Adam factories. He would become one of the most remarkable and prolific sculptors. A collection of his works is housed at the Louis Senlecq Museum of Art and History in L’Isle-Adam.
