Louis Peyrat (1911–1999) , a French painter born on November 30, 1911, in La Gorceix, Saint-Germain-les-Belles, near Limoges (87).
He completed an apprenticeship in carpentry; at the same time, he studied by correspondence at the École Universelle. After passing its entrance exam, he worked at an architectural firm in Limoges.
In his free time, he attended the School of Decorative Arts in Limoges; then, beginning in 1948, he exhibited at the Magadoux Gallery in Limoges, followed by exhibitions in Royan and numerous other galleries.
Starting in 1958, he painted views of Paris, particularly of Montmartre, which brought him success.
He gained admission to the highly prestigious Cercle Volney and to Parisian galleries such as the Galerie Roussard.
His paintings were exhibited alongside those of Degas, Derain, Domergue, Buffet, Braque, Picasso, Foujita, Utrillo, Laurencin, and others.... until 1969, when he stopped painting due to complications resulting from a traffic accident he had suffered a few years earlier (1963).
His success allowed him to live comfortably until his death on March 13, 1999, in Martoulet, Saint-Germain-Les-Belles (87).
